We chose to incorporate rollers in lieu of wipers in the RFD-27 taking advantage of the additional evaporative surface area created while the rollers are not in contact with the evaporator cage increasing efficiency and throughput. Additionally, a liquid nitrogen cold trap has been incorporated to provide extensive protection to the delicate rotors of the turbo molecular pump from what terpenes may have made it past the terpene strip. Finally, the use of steel as the base material for the machine infrastructure avoids incidences of breakage due to negligence or wear and tear. Glass construction is useful for learning purposes, but accounting for the price of redundant glassware can be cumbersome. For an affordable price, the RFD-27 provides a consistent, high quality distillate at a feed rate of 4-5L/hr. The Rolled Film Distillation system(RFD)is a robust and versatile botanical distillation system. The Redesigned to perform three basic functions. Step 1.Terpene/Volatile Fraction: Removes terpenes, residual solvents and other lighter volatile compounds from the botanical concentrate. Low heat (125°-135°c) and moderate vacuum levels. Step 2.Hard Cut/Pass: Targets a broader range of cannabinoid compounds, removing heavy“ tail fraction” compounds before targeting the desirable cannabinoids in the Soft Cut/Pass. Elevated temp (140°-150°c) and deep vacuum levels. Step 3.Soft Cut / Pass: Targets a very narrow range of the cannabinoid compounds commonly called a fraction. (95%+ THC/CBD) “GOLD” Elevated temp (140°-150°c) and deep vacuum levels The feed tank heater preheats the botanical concentrate. Next, the gear pump speed controller regulate the flow of the botanical concentrate into the system. Rotating rollers, controlled by the roller motor, evenly and thinly coat the walls of the Evaporator. The heated walls of the Evaporator(controlled by heater #1) allow for a quick and effective distillation of target compounds condensed by the inner condenser (controlled by heater #3). The Refined oil condensate accumulates in the collection vessel. The compounds that are not distilled continue to flow in to the Evaporator and eventually accumulate in the crude oil collection vessel. The compounds that are too volatile to condense on the main inner condenser continue to move towards the vacuum and are finally condensed in the cold trap.
